Fill the Pit Friday: Long John SIlver's

If you are going to do fish as a fast food LJS is one of those places.. if given a choice I probably go there than McD'x etc :-)

Long John Silvers - click here

Fish or clan strips is probably the better deal.. but the allure will always be the hush puppies..at least for me :-)

They of course have platters etc. but for $5 you get a decent portion to fill the pit .. and after all thats the reason we go to these types of places.. :-)

I seem to remember them having mash potatoes, as a side.. but I do not see it any longer. I mention that because when we were new parents with our first born we were at a mall stopped in for a bite realized our young one was still hungry.. so we got him mashed potatoes .. to this day he is always still hungry :-)

What do you get when you go to Long John's?

Warwick Thai Restaurant - Warwick, NY

I went out for a meal with one of my Masonic Brothers, just before lodge.
Our lodge is in Warwick so we opted to try this restaurant.

For a Thai restaurant, the menu is slightly expansive. This can be good or bad and it all depends on the person sitting down to eat.
I found some of the prices a bit high, but then again it is Warwick ;-)

I was slightly disappointed, because I wanted to try the noodle dish listed:
When I ordered it, however, I was told it was a soup noodle dish. No where in the "Noodles" section that it is in nor description, above, does it say SOUP.

I went with:
I asked for it spicy, and I enjoyed the meal. It was a pleasant surprise, after my initial disappointment.
My Brother ordered the Penang Curry, which looked a bit watery to me,. He enjoyed his meal as well, though he did splash it on his good shirt a few times ;-) I told him it looked a bit watery, more like the Massaman than Penang consistency i am used to seeing, but what do i know.. :-p

I would definitely go back and try a few other dishes, when the opportunity arises.

Fill the Pit Friday: KFC

KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken, is a staple amongst Fast Food Chicken.

When you go to you get Original or Extra Crispy ? The $5 fill ups are a very good buy.

I like dark meat so depending if i go original or extra crispy it will always be all dark meat. Way back in the stone age, mid to late 70's KFC had BBQ which was good for a kid in Brooklyn. It didn't last long and I believe a few decades back they tried to bring it back.

Fast Food was a treat for those of us growing up that had little money and ate whatever was put in front of us. A paper route or anything that allowed us to afford our own slice of pizza or burger lead us to the road of fast food. Being able to get a few pieces of chicken was no different. and KFC was the place to go.
Not many remember the BBQ days, but I do..

What are your memories or the Colonel?
