Fill the Pit Friday: Nathan's

It would behoove this Brooklyn Boy to mention Brooklyn's own:

I was born and bred in B'klyn, and you do not go near Coney Island without stopping in at least once. :-)

Many people may not know or remember but Nathan's used to also make frog's legs. They had this big round bowl like frier.. :-)

Hot dogs and the famous fries and lemonade of course. Nothing beats em. A little pricey these days but you need to experience it.

Buon Appetito !!

Fill the Pit Friday: McDonald's

Just like Burger King, McDonald's is the fast food standby.

The 2 "eens" apply to Mcdonalds as well. (Protein and caffeine)

For me, while on the road, either a simple cheeseburger or Quarter Pounder "Royale" with cheese and a cup of coffee hits the spot and wakes me up for that long drive.

What about you?

Buon Appetito!

Asian Bistro - King of Prussia, PA

A diamond in the rough and in the oddest of locations. :-)
My son is working in PA and on the edge of his apartment complex, we found an OASIS.

540 Shoemaker Road  : Asian Bistro.

NOTE: The Compleat Stategist, 580 Shoemaker Road, one of a few stores for the avid gamer. and just down the road a place to eat :-)

This bistro runs the gambit: Sushi , Thai and Chinese.

My son had the pad thai which he thought was good , it appeared a wee bit watery, but he said the flavor was good.
I had the "sechuan beef", which was good as well .. a lot of peppers and onions which leads me to believe its probably made similar to their pepper steak ;-)
This did not detract from the meal, we went there expecting to only fill the pit, which we did, but the pleasant surprise was that it was very enjoyable. They put care in the presentation as well and the staff are very friendly.
I would definitely revisit and eat there again

Split Rock Station, Suffern NY.

I spent my birthday going from watering hole to watering hole. :-)
Dinner Stop was at Split Rock Station to try their BBQ.

As I said in my previous blog about getting Defiant, Rockland's BBQ choices are severely limited and lacking. I have to say that SRS is far better than Bailey's and a close second to Defiant.
The Pit Sampler is huge and enough for 2 people maybe more.

It comes with: (left) Ribs, pulled pork, brisket and
(right) 2 sides: we chose corn souffle and sweet potato fries.

The ribs were tasty and didn't fall off the bone but it didn't need much coaching to do so..
The Brisket was very tender and much better and the pulled pork was very moist as well.

All in all the combination was a hit. :-)

Our 3 kids got the burgers.. Texas and Western burgers:

2 Western: frizzled onions, crunchy bacon, cheddar and drenched in BBQ sauce
1 Texas: chili, raw onions and cheddar

Nothing was left on their plates, my wife and I brought the rest of the sampler home.

I was wished a very happy Birthday and given my first drink free, which I thought was very kind.
Thank you Seth and SRS for giving me an option for when I am in Suffern.

Buon Appetito
